Daniel Rus: From Sparta Prague to Slovan Liberec
Born on 2 February 2006, Daniel Rus developed through the youth system of AC Sparta Prague before gaining experience with Sparta’s reserve team. His performances at youth and reserve level attracted attention, and his move to Slovan Liberec provided an opportunity to take the next step in his professional career.
Rus initially joined Slovan on loan in September 2025. Following that spell, the transfer became permanent in July 2026, with the forward signing a contract running until 2030.
The move reflects Slovan’s commitment to developing young players and giving talented footballers opportunities to establish themselves at senior level.
Rus is a versatile attacking player who can operate as a centre-forward, on either wing or behind the main striker. His movement, ability to create space and right-footed finishing make him an interesting prospect for the club’s attacking options.
Before moving to Liberec, he had already accumulated experience in the Czech second division with Sparta B and represented the Czech Republic at several youth international levels.
A goal that shows his potential
Rus’s goal against Śląsk Wrocław was more than just the opening score of a friendly match. It demonstrated several important qualities for a young forward: intelligent movement, quick decision-making and the confidence to finish accurately under pressure.
The assist from Vasil Kušej created the opportunity, but Rus still had to execute the finish. His curling shot towards the far post was the highlight of the move and gave Slovan an early advantage.
Matches during the international break can provide valuable opportunities for players outside the regular starting eleven. For Rus, this was a chance to show his qualities and make a positive impression.
