SK Sigma Olomouc secured a narrow 1–0 victory over FC Slovan Liberec on Saturday, 17 October 2026, in the 11th round of the 2026/27 Chance Liga season. Match report: How Sigma Olomouc beat Slovan Liberec
First half: Matěj Hadaš gives Sigma the lead
Sigma Olomouc started with energy and looked to put pressure on the visitors from the opening minutes. Marko Soldo tested Slovan goalkeeper Tomáš Koubek with a powerful long-range effort, forcing him to make an early save.
The breakthrough arrived in the 12th minute. Following a corner, the ball reached David Tkáč, whose shot took a deflection off Matěj Hadaš and changed direction beyond Koubek. The goal gave Sigma a 1–0 lead, with Hadaš recording his first league goal of his career.
Slovan gradually found its rhythm and began to threaten around the Sigma penalty area. Vasil Kušej delivered dangerous set pieces, while the visitors looked for openings through Patrik Dulay and Matěj Mikulenka.
In the 36th minute, Slovan appeared to have equalised when Patrik Dulay finished a move, but the goal was ruled out because Mikulenka had been offside earlier in the attack.
Sigma nearly doubled its advantage shortly afterwards. A defensive misunderstanding between Lukáš Hůlka and Koubek allowed Václav Sejk an opportunity to score into an exposed goal, but his attempt went wide.
The home side therefore entered half-time with a one-goal advantage.
Second half: VAR denies Slovan again
Slovan Liberec returned from the break determined to change the result. The visitors increased their attacking pressure and began to spend more time in the Sigma half.
In the 52nd minute, a long throw-in from Petr Hodouš caused problems in the home penalty area. Goalkeeper Jan Koutný lost control of the ball during contact with Lukáš Masopust, allowing Matěj Mikulenka to put the rebound into the net.
Slovan initially celebrated the equaliser, but the referee reviewed the incident on the pitch-side monitor. The goal was subsequently disallowed because of a foul by Masopust on the goalkeeper.
The decision kept Sigma in front and added further tension to the contest.
Slovan continued to search for an equaliser. In the 62nd minute, Masopust forced Koutný into another intervention with a powerful shot. The goalkeeper also dealt with an effort from Lukáš Mašek after Alexandr Bužek helped create the opportunity.
As the match entered its final stages, Sigma dropped deeper to protect its lead while Slovan committed more players forward.
86th minute: Lukáš Mašek’s goal is ruled out
The most dramatic moment came in the 86th minute. Vénuste Baboula delivered a low ball into the penalty area, and Lukáš Mašek finished from close range.
Once again, the visitors thought they had scored. However, the goal was ruled out following a VAR review because Mašek was in an offside position.
It was the third occasion on which Slovan had put the ball in the net without the goal counting.
Sigma survived the remaining pressure, including seven minutes of stoppage time, and secured a 1–0 victory. For Slovan Liberec, the result was particularly frustrating after a second-half performance that produced several promising attacking moments.

Match statistics and performance
The result did not tell the whole story of the match. Sigma made the most of its first-half opportunity, while Slovan pushed hard after the break but could not turn its attacking pressure into a recognised goal.
The three disallowed goals were the defining feature of the visitors’ afternoon. Dulay’s finish was cancelled for offside in the first half, Mikulenka’s goal was ruled out following a foul on Koutný, and Mašek’s late finish was also disallowed for offside.
For Sigma, the priority was to maintain defensive organisation and protect the advantage. For Slovan, the match highlighted how fine the margins can be in league football, especially when VAR decisions repeatedly interrupt a comeback attempt.
